These are some images taken from the hunting sites. To me, these are cruel and unnecessary. Its not a sport, its a massacre. People get punished for doing this kind of thing to other people but for animals its fine, its fun. Its double standards and lessoning another race for a pointless pleasure.

My idea is to create a combined safari/hunting season short to incorporate the two different hunting experiences into one, but with with a different outcome at the end: instead of the animals being the pray and becoming the trophies it will be the hunter that ends up in the animals place as their trophy rug.
The ideology behind this is that we are all born to think that the hunting of animals for game is normal, fun and without degradation to humanity. But I may be in the minority of people that think this is not the norm and is a wrong way to behave and think towards other animals. So, hopefully this will break this ideology of the way were treat other life and put my own representation of how I perceive it.

second draft of the storybord: Instead of scenes 1and 2 I changed it to a calendar to show the days pass and the hunting season begins. I replaced 3 and 4 with and over exaggerated blood thirsty face that is the hunter, in darkness. The 5th scene I've kept the same, will fade to black then the last scene of the animals and the hunter skin rug.

Sketches and Edits
Calendar scene made entirely on Flash. "February 28th" gets ripped of and reveals the hunting season begins. I made the calendar with zebra stripes as it is fitting to the theme of the short. Also helps to make it stand out from the bold colours.

Blood thirsty face: Blood shot evil eyes and a cheshire cat grin. Edited and coloured in Photoshop.

The hunter: I sketched out the full body then segmented it in Photoshop, coloured and added effects to get that night light/ menacing look to the hunter as he is waiting.

Animals: Trophies and live. Sketched and coloured in Photoshop.
At first I just used block colours to fill and see how each colour looked. When I had the colours that I wanted I blended them together to get rid of the block and look more natural. I used this in most of the images and I think it looks really good. Pretty happy how they've turned out

Flash is a little frustrating at times with how it works movements out, for example, to move flip something up it either stretches it, moves it from where it should be or just not flip at all so more times than not i've had to re-think what I've wanted to do and it has been a hinderance on getting through my work when I no that all of what I did want to do but end up having to change I could do on After Effects so much easier and quicker, but thats my opinion. But I am determined to do the best I can on it because it would be helpful to know so I shall keep trying and see how things pan out.
The "crazy face" was the 1st part that I've done at home so I was left to my own devices. The eyes and the teeth only had to move up and down or get bigger and smaller but even that seemed to be a little trying. I couldn't understand how things were moving to much or not enough so quite often I'd just have to delete all the "tweenings" and start again. When, finally I got it right I added a laughter sound that I found on Youtube, played it through and set up the timing for when it starts and finishes.
For the hunter scene, before the face comes into it I want it to zoom into his face then to fade into the Crazy Face. To do this I had to make a new symbol layer then copy and past all the frames from the scene into it, this is the zoom scene. Because it had a 3D transform on it, a lot of the scene had shifted so I had to resize and move most of it again to how it was. Then you have to drag the "zoom scene" back into the original scene but delete all the layers but one. The process for just having a zoom seemed pretty long when I no it only take a few second in After Effects so again it was somewhat tedious but I am more used to AE so it will seem easier. I just needed to add a motion tween then zoom into it by adjusting the size.
Most of the other scenes were not so different from the two above, panning, zooming, adjustments, it just got easier once I got the hang of it. Once the scenes had been done I just needed to add some music to it. I wanted something that would be ironic to the hunters situation so I chose Hit the Road Jack by Jatz and If you go Down to the Woods... as they seemed the most suited and gave a juxtaposition between the two.
In all I think it works well, not everything that I wanted to happen did happen but its close enough. If I could change anything about this project it would be Flash. The processes to do simple things is too wide. If i hadn't have looked up how to do things then I never would have guessed how to do them but I suppose thats how you learn new programmes but for me, at this point I still prefer AE as I picked it up much quicker and seems easier.
